The Kilkenny outlet of GameStop in Market Cross is closing down permanently at the end of business hours today.
The retailer is currently in the process of closing down all of its outlets across the country as it scales down operations.

Back in March, GameStop ceased the provision of a number of services in their Irish stores and on their website.
These services included the sale of gift cards, trade-in and purchase of used devices and accessories, GameStop Pro Loyalty services, game protection and pre-orders of some products.
In 2022, financial reports for GameStop’s Irish arm stated that its future was in ‘significant doubt’ as a result of ongoing losses at the company.
The retailer is associated with many fond memories for people in Kilkenny, from the excitement of the midnight releases to the thrill of purchasing a video game for the first time.
